Is a free estimate really free?
Absolutely. The time spent in estimating a job is considered a cost of doing business. Upon our initial visit, it is in our best interest to provide you with as much accurate information as possible. Only an educated consumer can realize the long term value in hiring a certified, licensed professional contractor.
Is Central Air Conditioning Expensive?
When some customers compare the cost of buying and installing four or five window units to the cost of a single central air system, they may experience "sticker shock". However, when they factor in the quiet, comfort and energy efficiency combined with the increased equity in their home, they begin to see the value in their investment.
Do You Leave Holes In Walls and Ceilings That Need To Be Patched?
In most cases the finish supply outlets and return air filter grill will cover the holes we need cut to distribute conditioned air throughout your home. On some installations it may be necessary to cut into an eve or crawl space to access areas that are needed to install necessary ductwork. We do our best to give you a clear picture of what your installation will involve prior to signing a contract.
Should I Purchase The Most Efficient Unit Available?
A properly installed 13 SEER* system will outperform a poorly installed 18 SEER system. In the north east we typically don't use our air conditioning systems more than four to five months out of the year. When you factor in the additional cost and the payback period for the highest efficiency models, most of our customers agree that a 13 to 14 SEER rating is sufficient.
* SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating) The national standard in comparing a/c systems.
How Do I know Which HVAC Contractor To Use?
Referrals from friends or relatives can be a good place to start. You may want to find a contractor who has been NATE (North American Technical Excellence) certified in your area. Established contractors who have been installing HVAC systems similar to the one they are proposing, should have customers that are happy to convey their expirence and satisfaction with their installations.
Why Would I Choose A Unico System Over A Conventional System?
Because Unico Systems typically cost about 20% to 25% more than conventional, we don't propose them for all applications. However, a Unico installation does leave a much smaller footprint and will fit into spaces that conventional can not. We have found that many customers with older homes never had central a/c installed because they couldn't bear to see their house cut up to accomodate large supply ducts. The Unico small duct systems make it possible to snake the supply ducts through ceiling and floor joists without cutting openings that need to be patched.
