The Stimulus Bill signed by President Obama on Ferruary 17, 2009 allows residential homeowners to receive a federal tax credit of 30% for a new geothermal installation. For example, if a homeowner pays $25,000 for a geothermal heat pump system installed in 2009, a tax credit of $7,500 should apply.
