| As of January 1, 2011, the Federal government raised the bar on production of ozone depleting CFC's. R-22 refrigerant is no longer legal to manufacture. All new residential air conditioning equipment must contain R410a refrigerant. As a result, many of the existing systems that in operation now will need to be upgraded when a major component fails to operate, or when current supplies of R-22 are exhausted |
| Most manufacturers will have repair parts available for R-22 systems for the time being. With regular maintenance, professionally installed, high quality R-22 systems should provide many more years of service. |
